Liverpool Echo: The hairdresser EVERYONE wants an appointment with

Working backstage at Chanel shows during Paris fashion week or with Victoria Secret models is the ultimate dream for many hair stylists, but for one Liverpool hairdresser this is reality.

Patrick Wilson, 25, from Aigburth, has made his mark in the hairdressing world with people desperate for him to style their hair.

He started out as a Saturday boy aged 14, working at Herbert's salon, and since then he's worked at Barbara Daley and Electric Hairdressing in Beauty Bazaar Harvey Nichols.

Everyday Patrick's fan club grows, with more than 19,000 followers on Instagram.

Patrick said: "Liverpool is a glamorous city and the girls really like to make an effort, I feel proud to say it's my hometown.

"It has definitely influenced my style of hairdressing.

"I started my Instagram account in 2012 and each day when I was in the salon I would post a #HairOfTheDay, it was just a bit of fun really posting the best colour or cut I had done that day, but it began to gain a lot of interest from new clients and girls in the city.

"My followers started to grow and grow and people would start saying I want to be hair of the day! It was quiet funny really how it all happened.

"Some would say I'm known for the Wilson Waves but I guess I just give the girls what they want."

It was back in 2012, when things really changed for Patrick. Having been accepted on to the L'Oreal I.D Artist Programme, he soon began assisting with London Fashion Week shows and photoshoots.

He adds: "This is how I got the buzz for working backstage and on set, then started travelling to London each season for fashion week with GHD.

"I would be part of their session team for the ready to wear shows.

"It was a great opportunity and I would always come back to the salon really excited with something new to show to my clients.

"In 2014 I won a competition for GHD to become the new member of their art team, this meant I would represent the company on stage during product launches and get involved at press events and shoots.

"I'm now a guest artist for the brand and have been lucky enough to travel with the company."

It is his involvement with GHD, which led to Patrick working backstage at the 2014 Victoria's Secret fashion show when it held in London.

It is a day he describes as the "highlight of his career".

Since then he has worked on big fashion shows including Chanel, Fendi, Balmain and Burberry.

If that wasn't enough, he regularly works alongside Jen Atkin, who is known for being the hairdresser for the Kardashian sisters often appearing on their reality show Keeping up with the Kardashians.

Patrick said: "This has been my dream for such a long time, I guess it still feels quite surreal really."
